The
Kidderpore College affiliated to the University of Calcutta, flowered on 1st October
1966. The local people's long-cherished desire and dream to have a College in
the area came true and it was made possible by the generosity of Late Satya Dhyaksha
and Satya Narayan Ghosal, the sons of Bhukailash Maharaja Jay Narayan Ghosal,
who donated a plot of land for the construction of the College building. The generous
donation of money from the munificent souls like Smt Sachi Rani Devi, Durgagati
Sengupta and others smoothened its onward journey to an all round progress and
its administrative foundation was framed by the repected Jintendra Nath Banerjee,
(the founder principal),Balai Pal, Dr Ajit Mukherjee and Dr Jaharul Hoque along
with the former Principal Sri P B De added no less to
its proliferation into a great variety of development and progress. While
in its budding phase of 1966, it had only B.A. Stream with only five subjects,
two rooms, five teachers and thirty students, to-day it has flourished into a
multi-faculty College of 16 departments with a multi-storeyed building consisting
of twenty class rooms, around nine hundred students, sixty teachers with thirty
three whole timers and nineteen permanent employees including two librarians.
