The
Cultural ethos of the College is fostered by the multilingual plurality of students
mainly streaming from the linguistic minorities of Urdu and Hindi whose dreams;
needs and aspirations are fairly accommodated here. Thus the Kidderpore College
has become a miniature image of India with Bengali, Urdu, Hindi, Nepalese, Oriya
students adding lustre to its basic unity and coherence. More than 10% students
belong to neighbouring states like Bihar, Jharkhand & UP. Over the years,
it has remained wedded to the cause of secular culture and nourishing cultural
ethos. Situated in a cosmopolitan area near the Kolkata Dock & port, bread
by the rich heritage and pollens of Kabitirtha made famous by the three great
poetic talents of Bengali literature- Michael Madhusudan, Hemchandra and Rangalal,
the Kidderpore College has always aspired to be a beacon radiating the message
of knowledge and hope for all, particularly the deprived section of the society.
